Place Value Vocab Sorting Cards Flash Freebie

As I posted the other day, math has been a struggle this year. We have spent tons of time reviewing basic facts and place value. We are finally about ready to test over place value! This year I spent much more time on the vocabulary involved in place value and I expect the students to know this for the test. To practice the vocabulary, I created a vocabulary card sorting center. This quick and easy center has students match up the vocabulary word with a definition and example. Since this is a new product, it will be free in my store for the next hour or so. Feel free to click on the picture below to head to my TpT store and download it! Let me know what you think! If you have any suggestions of things to add, I would love to hear that too!

Adventures of Ai Giveaway!

I was lucky enough to be  given a chance to review a copy of Adventures of Ai by Craig T. Bouchard.

I really enjoyed this book and will be adding it to my read aloud list. This book would probably be a little difficult for reading groups for my 4th graders, but I think it will make a great read aloud.
We have been talking a lot about different cultures in class and the setting of this book is in Japan, making it perfect for discussion.
The book starts out with a dad telling a bedtime story to his children about a family in Tokyo, Japan, and then goes back 500 years to tell the story of a young girl named Ai who lived in 1514.  The story tells about the adventures of Ai and the lessons she learns along the way.
The book also has a video game that can be downloaded for free. Check out the book and video game trailer below.

Here is a link to the video game if you are interested: Adventures of Ai video game.

Enter the giveaway below if you are interested in receiving an Adventures of Ai e-book! Two winners will be chosen.

Multiplication Task Cards Flash Freebie

Can I vent real quick?? My students DON'T know their multiplication facts....like at all!!!! I feel like I am teaching 3rd grade all over again. I am so far behind in math because we are starting from the basics and working on basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts! It's ridiculous! Ok, done venting!

Due to the fact that my students don't know their facts, I made some task cards to help practice. They will be free in my store for the next hour or so if you would like to download them! Click the picture below to head to my TpT store.

If you download this product, I would love it if you left me some TpT feedback :)

Tried It Tuesday: Fraction Anchor Chart

As I was heading out the door to go to school today, I got a call from the school saying the whole town had no electricity so there would be no school!! Soooooo obviously I went right back to bed and yes it's 10:30 and I just woke up! Pathetic I know!

Anyways this now leaves me time to blog! I'm linking up today with Fourth Grade Flipper's Tried It Tuesday Linky

I have finally jumped on the anchor chart bandwagon. I have always loved the anchor charts I have seen other teachers make and decided to try my hand at my own.....let's be honest I just copied other anchor charts that I found on Pinterest.  Here is one I made for fractions at the end of last year. It's been so long that now I can't remember where the ideas came from. If this is your original design, please let me know and I will give you credit!!

I was lucky enough last year to also get a set of fraction tiles for each student, so here are some pictures of my students comparing fractions!

Since we were waiting on getting a new math textbook last year, I struggled my way through math. When it came to the fraction unit, I totally relied on a packet created by Create, Teach, Share. This packet was awesome!

80+ Fraction Printables (CCSS Aligned)

I would love to see what you are trying in your classroom!
