Show Me Some Bloglovin Giveaway!

You have probably heard by now that Google Reader is going away on July 1st.  Well, Google Reader may be going away, but I don't want YOU to go away, so I hope that you will consider following my blog through bloglovin! I know that change is hard...so we thought I might sweeten it up for you a little bit!

 

I am doing a giveaway (along with a bunch of fabulous bloggy friends) for all of my fabulous followers that take the leap and switch over to bloglovin.  You may have already switched over!  In that case, this will be an easy entry!

Pacing Guide and Giveaway!

It's another rainy day here, which means no pool day :( Instead I worked with another teacher on the ELA Common Core pacing guide...ugh not fun work at all! Has anyone else had to do this? The pacing guide for math seemed to be MUCH easier than the ELA one. It was hard to match up our reading series with the standards and then figure out a timeline, but I think we got the hard part done-matching standards to the themes in our reading series. Now, all I need to do is rearrange all of the information into a timeline!

Yay it's the weekend! The only bad  part of that is the fact that it's supposed to be reallllly hot and humid and my AC is broke   :( ugh but on a positive note...... today starts my 200 follower giveaway!

Friday Flash Freebie!

Happy Friday everyone! I really have nothing to blog about today so I'm just going to offer up a flash freebie! One of my favorite review activities before a test is to play "I have, who has" games. Monday Made It: Human Body

 

It's Monday which means it is time to link up with 4th Grade Frolic's Monday Made It!

 

 

This week I want to share something that I meant to share a while back.....the last science unit I did with my students was the human body. We did a lot of fun activities and this might be my new favorite unit to teach. We started off with the digestive unit. We read about it and watched a cool Magic School House movie. We discussed the lengths of the small and large intestine and measured them out. Then I had the students work in groups to draw diagrams of the digestive system. They used yarn to show the actual length of the small and large intestine. The posters turned out great! Here are a few examples!

 

My coworker also did a really cool activity with the digestive system. She made a larger model and used panty hose and newspapers to show the large and small intestine. Here is a picture!
